In previous posts, we have talked about how unique product labels can be extremely useful for making your Amazon products stand out from the others. The same can be said for your product descriptions as well. Not only are long and unique product descriptions beneficial for conversion rates, but they are important for search engine rankings as well, Amazon itself is now like a giant search engine, use it to your advantage.
In the event that your product description isn’t catchy and detailed, potential clients will shed interest quickly, you need as many eyes on your products as possible in order to increase your conversation rates – the more eyes on your products the greater chance you have of increasing your sales. Selling items on Amazon is a great income earning idea and one that you can take advantage off.
Your product description needs to be different from the competition, do not be lazy and simply put in similar types of wording to your rivals…you may think you are saving time by copying other companies product descriptions for the same product, but at the end of the day you are wasting time because you will not rank higher than them, you must use some of your own ideas and be as creative as possible with the keywords that you will be using.
Before your get round to writing your actual product description, you will need to work on a great headline for your product as this will be the first part of wording that any potential buyer will come across. The headline needs to be well worded and should try and catch people’s attention as quickly as possible. This, of course, goes hand in hand along with great photos of your products, you can read more about in a separate article HERE.
This listing is a great example of using plenty of keywords in this headline description:
The seller has used various words to describe one product to try and rank as high as possible using the keywords that any potential buyer might enter into the Amazon search bar. Instead of just typing in “Fruit Slice” they have also entered the words:
The above words are great and in combination with other words that could even pull in buyers who are not even looking for that particular product such as “4 blades” and “Stainless Steel Blade” which could be razor related, and the word easy grip which could cover a host of other products, make a fantastic combination. The more clicks you are getting the more likely that Amazon will start to promote your product.
So after you have put together a killer product headline along with your awesome photos, you can get to work on creating your product description. Remember, the same rule applies from the headline writing, plenty of keywords but this time you get to write a more detailed and in-depth description of your product.
As an example, the same seller has also done a great job in the actual description of the product on sale, again using lots of important keywords:
This description goes into more detail about what the product can do, what is made from and uses great words again such as “Durable Stainless Steel” , “Top Quality” and “Satisfaction Guarantee” , the description also clearly shows:
WHAT THE PRODUCT DOES
WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT
WHAT YOU SHOULD USE IT FOR
WHAT IT IS MADE FROM
100% GUARANTEE OR YOUR MONEY BACK WITHIN 30 DAYS
The description not only confirms what the item is made from, what it should be used for but also guarantees that the item will work as described or your can claim your money back in full within 30 days with no quibble! How is that for full peace of mind?
RESEARCH THE COMPETITION
You should fully research your competition and check if they are doing a good job by using their own product descriptions. Try and look to make your wording better than the competition, if needed, employ a freelance content writer to put together a listing description for you. Your description must be better than the competition!
If a company that you are competing against has received any negative feedback, try and use it to your advantage, take theose complaints and try and reassure any new buyers that your prodcuct will not be like that and will fully satisfty the buyers requirements. Tweak your product description to include words and phrases that are missing are from competitions products description, for example, if a negative points out that an item is flimsy with a loose grip, spin that around and state that your product is sturdy and is easy to grip. Make other people’s negatives into a positive for yourself.
Your product descriptions need to include the basic keywords you are wanting to rank and show up for when potential buyers are searching on Amazon. In an ideal world, every item description on your listings will obtain a well-written item description that encourages customers to make that click on to your item. Yes, writing an excellent product description does take time, thought, and consumer psychology, but they are really worth the effort.
This video from AMZ Tracker on YouTube runs through how you can make your product descriptions better by using Keywords:
Each description that you are writing needs be within a style and language that may gain the maximum impact for the product that you are selling, think of it as the equivlant of writing and presenting a sales pitch where you only have a very limited amount of time to grab someones attention and complete the sale, or like you are crafting a mini story, your words need to be enticing enough for someone to instantly think “Yes! I want that product!”
It is simple – great Amazon product descriptions help sell products – and you need to be selling as many products as possible if you are going to be a succesful Amazon seller and earn an additional income.
